City of Staunton says water is safe

Many Staunton water users including businesses are experiencing a dirt smell and taste.  It was reported by the Staunton Public Works Director that despite the water’s taste, odor, and sometimes slight discoloration, the city’s water is safe.  This experience is due to a chemical burn process that is cleaning the water lines of residue.  This process is a new EPA regulation that must be completed every five years.
